Memorable Christmas Gifts for Everybody on Your List
May 12, 2009
Angelique Ellerman asked:
Christmas is fast approaching once again and now is the time to begin planning gifts and activities during the holiday season. Finding the perfect gift just involves keeping your eyes open, knowing what the recipient likes and finding the best deal. That’s why planning ahead can help to make the holidays less stressful so all you have to worry about is bringing yourself and of course any family.
Of course you are usually shopping for many different people, each of whom has their own very unique and distinctive tastes. Personally, I find that giving personalized gifts, making homemade keepsakes or finding items that allow the recipient to pursue their hobbies and interests are always the most appreciated gifts you can give your loved ones.
Keepsake items like: a personalized crystal or marble plaque, single or family style coaster sets, glass ornaments for an individual or the entire family, jewelry and jewelry boxes or valet trays, leather travel bags or luggage, sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, pajamas, terry robes or slippers, Swiss army knife, leather wallet, women’s tote bags and gift baskets come in a huge variety of colors, styles, sizes and themes sure to please even the most discriminating of tastes. Plus all of these gift ideas can be personalized with names and dates, initials, a poem, a company’s logo or even a famous quote.
Other items include but are not limited to: coffee mugs or a thermos, can Koozies for keeping beverages hot or cold, crystal barware, glasses or decanter sets, vintage or modern looking pub signs for the home bar, sterling silver or leather business card holder, leather passport cover and picture frames or photo albums all make unique and thoughtful keepsake gifts that can be proudly displayed and used for years to come.
Personalized gifts are especially fun and unique as children’s gifts. Children really love to see items made especially for them, later they become cherished keepsakes they will remember fondly. Items like: a letter from Santa, their very own book about them or about an adventure they had, baseball and glove, wooden or aluminum bat, piggy banks, blankets and or throws, room signs for both boys and girls, toys like a yo-yo or harmonica and finally you can have a sketch created of your child from a photograph or a funny caricature is also very memorable.
Gifts can also be homemade which saves money and becomes a truly unique keepsake gift. However for those of us who are not so creative, thankfully we can shop for uniquely crafted gifts. Gifts like: scented candles, blankets or Afghans, potpourri, photo albums and gift baskets can all be made at home or bought. Plus they can all be tailored specifically to what the recipients like and their unique styles.
Other ideas are as follows: banner or garden flags for an individual, pet or the entire family, a gift certificate to the recipients favorite store or stores, tickets to a concert or event and even etched glass plates, serving trays, bowls and candy dishes make fun gifts to both give and receive.
Also hobby gifts like: golfing accessories, wine gifts, hiking accessories, camping accessories, any special classes he or she may be interested in or even a hot air balloon ride or an African safari can be the best gift in the world depending on the individual. Just make sure the African safari goes to your cousin and not to grandma who requires a walker to get around.
Recipients include: your mother and father, girlfriend or boyfriend, grandmother and grandfather, spouse, the kids, any aunts or uncles and of course any in laws and other extended family like cousins and friends. This is why Christmas gets so stressful. With all the plans and a tight budget, sometimes we get a little swept away. Remember though, the gift doesn’t have to cost a fortune to be well liked and appreciated; it just has to fit into the recipients lifestyle and needs to be something they want or can use.
By planning ahead you will save yourself a lot of stress, plus time and money during the holiday season. The holidays are a time of giving, so give to everyone on your list as well as yourself this year. By taking advantage of sales throughout the year and planning ahead, plus remembering to take some time to unwind during and after all the festivities, you will find the holidays more enjoyable, less stressful and more memorable. Happy Shopping

A Timeless Gift for a 1st Birthday
May 11, 2009
Sarah Dechant asked:
One of the most vivid memories I have of my grandmother is going though her jewelry and trying on all her diamonds and gold. It seems like we did this about once a year from as early as the age of four until I was about twenty, give or take a year.
As an adult there are little things that hallmark our childhood and make it special to us. My grandmother, being a simple woman, and jewelry being her only indulgence, made the time we shared rummaging though her jewelry so special to me.
I remember, she would let me try on anything I wanted. Sometimes she would surprise me with a piece of costume jewelry. She would tell me it’s new and, let me try it on. We would ooh and awe about it and then she would tell me I could have it. Although I knew it was not real gold or encrusted with precious stones I loved it all the same. It was a gift from my grandma. And these little trinkets commemorated the time we shared that was so special to me.
One year, I think I was about eleven, we were going through her trove of treasures I discovered a piece of tarnished jewelry that did appear worthy to be in her coveted jewelry chest.
It was a tiny bracelet made of tiny sterling silver and turquoise beads. Confused that something so old and not nearly as beautiful as all the others in my grandmother’s special place, I pulled the tiny bracelet from the chest. As I flipped the beads around one by one and soon realized it revealed my name.
As a child I had an uncommon name. It was rare for a company to include my name on pre-made on personalized items. My brother and my sisters could always buy stickers and pencils with their name on them and I was almost always left feeling left out.
In any event at this age it was astonishing for me to see my name on a piece of jewelry even one as old, beat up and used as this one. My eyes lit up. “Was this mine when I was a baby?” I asked. She nodded and I gently placed the tiny bracelet back in its place among her most cherished possessions.
Had it not been for that day, I would have never known a baby bracelet with my name ever existed.
Over the years, personalized baby bracelets have come a long way. They have so many styles and personalization options available compared to the bracelet I had discovered so many years prior. Styles for both girls and boys with every type of personality are available. These timeless treasures are constructed using Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, sterling silver charms and strung on thin and sturdy nylon coated stainless steel wire.
It certainly is a delightful keepsake that will be cherished years after it’s outgrown.

Teacher Gift
May 10, 2009
Benjamin Iong asked:
After parents, teachers are the most important individuals, who help in inculcating the virtues in their students. No occasion is inappropriate to express your gratitude towards the teachers through gifts. However, the teacher-student relationship is such that is becomes paramount to dwell a lot on the teacher gift ideas before settling for the ideal gift for your mentor. This is because most of the time, it’s quite difficult to deduce the exact preferences of the teacher and you don’t want to annoy the teacher by making an unwelcome gift.
So, what are your options for teacher gift ideas?
Kitchen items, like coffee mugs, are quite popular when it comes to teacher gifts. Though these items have become clichéd, but still their charm is mesmerizing. Teacher-pins and candies also fall in the same category.
However, if you want to be innovative and willing to spend just a little bit extra money, then small jewelry items could be the perfect gift for your teacher. The jewelry items can also be personalized by printing small message or quotation. This will add a special allure to your gift.
A desk set consisting of pen sets, note pads, etc. is always one of the favorite teacher gift ideas. As a parent, you can gift your kid’s favorite teacher a spa gift card for a nice session of pampering and beauty treatment.
Personalized gift cards are among the evergreen choices as teacher gift ideas. You can also supplement the cards with a gift basket comprising of lotions, perfumes, and other cosmetic items.
The source of teacher gift ideas plays a decisive role in your selection. If you follow a good website with plenty of teacher gift ideas, then you don’t have to worry about additional research. Moreover, you can instantly judge the worthiness of the website from the gifts on offer.

Homemade Gift Baskets for Teachers
May 10, 2009
Janet Vogel asked:
Creating a gift basket for your child’s teacher is a great way to show your gratitude for the attention and assistance paid to your children. The time you dedicate to putting together an assortment of gift and food items, chosen just for the teacher, is your way of personalizing your gift as a gesture of your appreciation.
If the teacher drinks coffee, make this your theme. A natural colored wicker basket is the ideal container. Place straw, crumpled brown paper, or shredded newspaper in the basket before placing the gifts. Add a decorative coffee mug, gourmet coffee, envelopes of flavored coffee, and small packages of cookies or chocolate candy. You can wrap the finished gift in cello paper or a cello bag tied at the top with raffia or curly ribbon. Place the gift card in the basket with the gifts so it doesn’t get lost.
It’s not necessary to spend a great deal of money on these gift baskets. Visit your local dollar type store for baskets, organizers, or large coffee mugs to use as containers. They usually carry an assortment of colorful shred to use as filler, ribbons, bows, gift tags, and lots of small gift items that are nice when making gift baskets.
Movies, music, and sports are other themes that should be appropriate for many teachers. Simply choose a container, filler materials to help hold your gift items in place, and well wrapped food and gift items. Gift cards are always great gifts when you are unsure of the preferences of the teachers.
An assortment of bath products and aromatherapy items is a nice idea for a female teacher. Fill in empty spaces with rolled washcloths, bars of soap, votive candles, a loofah, net sponges, etc. If you include food gifts make sure they are well wrapped as the scents from the bath products may seep in.
Your gift basket can be as simple as a wicker basket lined with a colorful cloth napkin or tea towel. Place a loaf of freshly baked bread (or several muffins) wrapped in see through bags or wrap and tied with raffia in the same color as the napkin or tea towel. Add several tea bags and a couple of small jars of preserves or jelly.

The Mystery Unwrapped – How to Successfully Buy Gifts for Women This Christmas (christmas Gifts for Her)
May 10, 2009
John Smith asked:
So, Christmas time rolls around and, once more, you are stranded without a clue how to buy Christmas gifts for the beloved ladies in your life. I know, I too am male, and as such seemingly bound by an inability to empathise with and understand just what Christmas gifts wives, girlfriends, mothers and aunties desire. It’s a minefield alright.
However, all is not completely lost. With the advent of internet shopping, avenues for research on Christmas gifts for the fairer sex are wider and far more numerous. Whilst there are always the “safe” options of perfume, make-up, underwear and their favourite girly DVD (Cinderella in my girlfriend’s case), these do not necessarily communicate what we are trying to say. Our Christmas Gifts should show our love, gratitude and affection for the special women in our lives, but as men we often find these feelings difficult to put across.
So, we turn to the internet, and many sites now answer our prayers by sub-dividing categories of Christmas gifts. Ideas now are not just limited to typical gifts such as the above, but other exciting and thoughtful Christmas gift options.
Great ideas range from the energetic to the relaxing. Some places offer special experience days. This ideal Christmas gift can give experiences from special spa pampering sessions, to recording studio time, and from West End theatre trips to gliding lessons. These are all innovative ideas for presents, and would no doubt thrill your special lady, mum, daughter, or girlfriend alike.
For mums specifically there is a wide selection of thoughtful Christmas gifts, usually laid out in a special category for the research-averse. A personalised bottle of wine would be a nice touch, as would the “number one mum” photo frame, both thoughtful gifts. Other thoughtful options exist also, including the galactic option of naming a star after your mum and for the chocoholic parent, the “Chocoholics Pizza”, a 10″-12″ pizza constructed from chocolate, jellybeans and Smarties, among other goodies.
For men, however, the biggest minefield with Christmas gifts is definitely with their girlfriend or wife. Whereas mums are more likely to forgive their offspring for any off-the-mark Christmas gift, the girlfriend’s present must be spot-on. A particularly thoughtful present can be found online, and is any UK top 40 single amazingly framed with a plaque bearing a message of your choice. With any couple there is that special song that is “theirs”, and this is a very thoughtful Christmas gift which she would no doubt appreciate.
Other thoughtful gift ideas for your girlfriend abound, and include more traditional ideas. A box of luxury champagne and chocolates with a personal message show how much you think she should be pampered, and for those suffering with the dark December nights, the Sun Jar is a good Christmas gift. The Sun Jar stores sunlight during the day and glows at night, giving the sun-worshipping girl in your life hope that summer will soon be coming!
For the animal-friendly lady in your life, other options might appeal. Along this line, a good Christmas gift idea could be to adopt a reindeer. The Cairngorm reindeer herd are the last in the UK, and by adopting one you are ensuring that they are not only thought of at Christmas. There is visiting information included in the personalised pack, and this would make a great gift for any animal lover.
If you’re feeling that you want to get in on your special girl’s gift, or if you are just generous enough to let her take a friend, there are a wide selection of trips to undertake. You could book a two-day health spa pass for her, or if you desire something more exotic, an Arabian Rasul steam vault experience. In this treatment, you are treated to four different types of mineral-rich mud and healthy salts that work to leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed and your skin smooth and supple. This is a perfectly indulgent Christmas gift for her and a friend, and for you too if you wish!
However, all the women in your life might not be as close to you, for instance a work colleague or friend. For these, some of the more elaborate Christmas gifts might be a bit much, and there are some excellent present ideas for this also. A grow-it-yourself bonsai tree set is an original gift, and for the more quirky friend special comedy books such as Edward Monkton’s “The Lady and the Chocolate Book” would be an original gift idea. This brilliantly surreal book would bring a smile to anyone who reads it, and funny key rings and mugs also make a good Christmas gift in this case.
In short, buying Christmas gifts for the woman in your life is a case of just adding a little thought. In a lot of cases, the gift is not really an issue but merely the act of taking the time and thought over the gift is what is important. With that in mind, good luck men!

Wedding Gifts – Giving Way To Your Unique Ideas
May 8, 2009
Abhishek Agarwal asked:
Attending a wedding and have no clue what to gift the couple-to-be? Sick and tired of the same old home decor and home appliances? Oh please not another oven toaster, vacuum cleaner or blender. Though money would be highly appreciated, it would appear very impersonal.
Gifting something to the wedding couple is a part of the ceremonious tradition. Your gift will symbolize your good wishes for the newly weds. It will represent your prayers for their happy married life.
Your first thought while buying a wedding gift is its durability. You would obviously want to buy something that would last them a long time. But certainly, you would want something that reflects your personality with a tinge of individuality. The couple will always remember your gift only if it is unique in its own way. This implies that your gift must make a very lasting impression of you on the couple.
Listed below are a couple of wedding gift suggestions that are bound to make you unforgettable to the newly wed couple.
Jewelry
Jewelry is a very safe and unique wedding gift that the bride will definitely appreciate. Everyone knows that women have always loved jewelry and obviously the bride would be overjoyed to see you gift her jewelry. She is bound to be surprised and fascinated on opening your gift. Choose something that is simple and elegant like a hairpin, pendant, necklace, bracelet, a brooch pin, earrings or chains. If you have enough funds and the bride is a close relative like your sister or best friend, you could gift her diamonds. How about including a pretty jewelry box together with the gift?
Bags
Once again, the bride is sure to love it. After jewelry, bags and shoes are bound to delight women. You could gift her an elegant and expensive hand bag or evening bag. If you are looking for something smaller, go for a clutch bag. You may also drop a basic make up kit into it.
Gifts for the groom
Can’t forget about the groom, can we? They say it’s easier to buy a gift for a man, and maybe it is true. Some appropriate gifts include ties and tiepins, wrist and pocket watches, cufflinks in gold, silver or with diamond studs. Formals shirts and suits also make very good wedding gifts. If you know the groom’s favorite hobby, you could give him a related gift. If he is into music, you could give him drums or a guitar, or if he is more of a sportsperson, you could give him a basketball, a baseball or golf clubs.
Naughty items
There are some naughty gifts that you find in novelty shops like naughty hats, caps, t-shirts, underwear and wedding night kits that most couples love. But, make sure you know they groom and bride well before gifting something of that sort. Such naughty items may seem offensive and impolite to some people.
Artwork
Sculptures and paintings are ideal wedding gifts. It is also very practical because it will be useful in beautifying their new house. Just make sure you know what the couple’s taste and art preference is like so that they put your gift to good use, otherwise it will just gather dust in the attic or garage.
Personalized items
You could gift the newly weds some personal item like a pillow, a pillow case, photo album, photo frame or wedding plates. There are plenty of companies that provide such personalized services so you need not worry about having a hard time searching.
