Bugalug Review

Bugalug is Canada’s top little girl accessory company and I’m so pleased that I had the opportunity to review a few of their adorable products! Bugalug was created by mother of two, Sundi Hoffman of Calgary, Alberta who has made it her mission to create accessories for little girls that truly stay put. She was extremely successful in her endeavour and won the SavvyMoms’ Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Prairies. I think her story is inspiring to all the mompreneurs out there! Another interesting tidbit of info is that her company was chosen to provide products to big name celebrities including Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Courtney Cox and Angelina Jolie.
Bugalug started out making barrettes, but have since expanded their product line to include headbands, pony tail loops and hand-made gift cards. Their products can be found in more than 303 stores across Canada and 4 in other countries and they are continually expanding their reach each month.
Bugalug gave me the opportunity to try out 3 of their products- Bugalug Pony Loops, Bugalug Barrettes and Bugalug Headbands. They all looked so sweet on my little girl, Bridget.
The Bugalug Pony Loops are each handcrafted so you can buy two from the same pattern, but they are guaranteed to be unique! I got three different ones all from a pink and white colour scheme which I love. I wanted to try them out a few times so I could give a better review. I used them in Bridget’s hair as a ponytail and then in pigtails. I can tell you that they did stay put in her hair the whole day and were not slipping out. Bridget has fine, thin hair like me which is really hard to keep in one style the whole day. The Bugalug Pony Loops stayed in her hair comfortably and she didn’t complain about them one bit! They are priced at $3.50 each.
The next product I had to try was the Bugalug Barrettes. The ones I received are called Starbright Purple and they cost $8.00 for a set of two. The Bugalug Barrettes are unique because of silicon gel grip on the inside of every barrette which is to ensure that the clip will not budge. These barrettes really do stay where you put them. I always find that barrettes tend to slide out of Bridget’s hair, but these actually worked really well. I thought the grippy strip is a great idea and hey it works!
My favourite product is the Bugalug Headband and the name of the one I reviewed is the Darling Debut Linked Flowers Headband. It’s described as a 1 inch satin ribbon with delightful flowers in red, black and white. The neat thing about Bugalug Headbands is a nifty little thing called the “comfortable toggle”. This allows you to make the headband the perfect size to fit your little girl’s head. You can adjust it to make it looser or tighter very easily. You simply slip the headband on your child and the toggle is at the back under the hair and you tighten it to fit. So simple! What a cute little headband too! Bridget looked adorable wearing it and like all Bugalug accessories, it also stayed in place!
Check out the Bugalug website to see all the other little accessories that they have to offer. They are both cute and functional which is a great combination!
