    1 Cup Egg White
    2 # Powdered (confectioners) Sugar
Mix until smooth (about 2 - 3 minutes)
    2 # Chilled Shortening
Add Gradually, Let mix for about 15 minutes.

If you can find Sweetex, use it. Crisco works okay for home use.

  13. kayeruizx3 on April 25th, 2009 5:41 am

there is no ice cream in this video, only buttercream

  14. hshroyer74 on April 26th, 2009 7:54 pm

It’s me in the video :) I actually only use Italian Meringue buttercream…..no shortening or icing sugar. You can find a good recipe on the Martha Stewart website.
Glad so many people are enjoying this video!

  17. mack05133 on May 9th, 2009 7:40 pm

It’s actually a “coupler” and you can get them from bulk barn for 60 cents I think..then you have to buy the ring as well.

When you do the swirl, isn’t that too much icing for the amount of cake. I tried it with normal buttercream and I thought that was way too much icing! Does the Italian Icing tast better?
